Some girls are jyst crazy broodies by nature. I have my girls as pets, so I am not concerned with egg production. So as long as she is healthy and happy...so am I!If this girl stays relentless, that might be a great solution.

AWWWWWWW!!!!Hi! I have a Bantam Cochin girl that Is a die-hard broody! I tried to break her the first time and she completely stressed out, lost lots of weight. Now when she goes broody, I set her up in a separate cage with food, water...i put it right in front of her so she can eat from her nest box. She has gone broody 4 more times since our first episode (she is ONLY a year and 2 months old) and stays healthy each time. Some girls are just habitual broodies so I decided not to fight it with my girl after the first time. I kick her out of her nest twice a day to run around, dust and poop. Each hen is different so you just have to do what works for you and her. Good luck!!!View attachment 1460965

What she thought of my attempt at blocking off the nest boxes...
View attachment 1461016 I then removed them to find her sitting on an egg on the floor. I swear she would have brooded a bump on a log.

I finally gave in and she is the happiest Momma hen!
She did randomly lay an egg or two while brooding. I’m also pretty sure she didn’t poop for 3 weeks. I had food and water right outside the nest box for her. Even trying to force her to leave so she would eat didn’t work. She would just run around “tuck tuck tuck” all stressed.
You can give her a day old baby if you can find one. She may accept it. Be prepared if she doesn’t. If not I would keep doing what you’re doing. It’s not healthy for them to be broody for so long.
Good Luck!
She’s a Svart Hona Bantam Cochin cross so rather little. All her babies are standard size. She still tries to sit on them at 5 weeks old. They don’t exactly fit.Lol! She is DEFINITELY determined! I LOVE seeing broodies and their babies!
Hilariously ADORABLE!!! Unfortunately my girl had yet to go broody at a time I can give her eggs...but her time is coming to be a momma! She’s a Svart Hona Bantam Cochin cross so rather little. All her babies are standard size. She still tries to sit on them at 5 weeks old. They don’t exactly fit.
