So we have been outside working alot for the last two days building coops for our babies.... anyway, our egg collection got skip for a day so just out of curiosity I collected all the eggs and placed them in the favorite nest box of our hens. Within minutes one of my gals was sitting on them, she stayed there for about an hour and a half before I saw her with the rest of my little flock. Does this mean she may be a candidate for brooding....how do I go about getting her to stay there? Should I put a few fake eggs in for a few days, and when do you replace the fake with real ones? Thanks!

I'd put some fake eggs in, if your already thinking about it.

Make sure she's going to sit. Somtimes they're wanting to go

broody, but never actually stick with it. They set on the eggs for a little

while, get them nice and warm to start developing, then all the sudden she

doesn't want to do that anymore, and the eggs get cold and die.
