My broody silkie's beack seams to be overly long. Is this due to no foraging/ natural wearing down of the beak? I know this can be a problem in captive birds...so I'm wondering if it will hinder her ability to eat?

I think mine did get that way too. It's from her sitting so much. It will go back to normal, mines did. It's weird cause it's almost like a defense thing too.

Defense thing = so she can impale me everytime I try to do anything within striking distance?

Yea, I get that.

Lol it's funny how nature works. You really don't have to do much, you can candle when she gets off the nest (if you can do it fast enough) just take 1 or 2 eggs to the bathroom with a flashlight and see what's developing. I check about once a week, that and food and water she'll do all the rest.
