Broody chickens

Thanks, all good observations! She was on the nest 2-3 days/nights and now in the crate--with straw and wood shavings and two fake eggs--two days. Do you think it's okay to lock her in except for afternoon outing until she stays voluntarily? I really want her to hatch in there for all the reasons you listed as well as those I already thought about. But I don't want to frustrate her out of broodiness since I'm paying for special eggs...

Is she sitting on nest in crate, all day and all night, while she's locked in?
But going to a coop nest when she's comes out of crate?
Pic of crate, please?

Here’s the crate. She seems to be staying in it now even with door open. She’s on two wooden eggs. Maybe this is going to work after all! I’m getting the fertile eggs tomorrow. Wish us luck!
