I have a Cochin that is broody, she has been sitting in the box for five days now. We placed three eggs under her three days ago. She gets off of the eggs several (3 or 4)times a day and eats, poops and dust baths, will the eggs hatch or is she leaving them to many times a day?

I have a buff that is broody and I never see her off the nest.

Any ideas will be helpful.

If she's getting off more than once, the eggs may not make it.

Some broodies just don't learn it well the first time around.

I've got four Cochins doing the same thing.

They sit on everyone's favorite nest growling like dinosaurs and sitting on nothing. I try to stick eggs under them, and they get mad at me and get up, and a few hours later go back and sit again, but they will get up and leave the eggs any time I refill a feeder or waterer.

It now appears that my cochin has decide to sit tight, she has only been out once a day for the last two days. Should I trade the eggs out from under here since she was getting of of the two and three times before or just leave them? The eggs have three or four days of her on and off and now two days of tight sitting.

Thanks in advance for the help
