How do I get my muscovy hen to go un-broody? I've noticed my rooster had been trying to mate with my muscovy hen and well, I just recently found her nest. She has gone broody. Should I let them hatch or get rid of them? Or will they even hatch at all? What should I do?

Unless there is a male duck around that has bred her they won't hatch. You could see what she does if you take them away. It might take a day or so for her to get up and quite. Or you could get some fertile eggs and let her hatch those. Or you could put her in a Sin Bin!

When you say "rooster" are you talking about a male chicken or male muscovy? When I hear "rooster" I think chicken, but I just wanted to make sure...

Both excellent questions and I can't believe I forgot to mention the answers!

A sin Bin is a small completely wire cage in which the bird only has room to stand up and sit down. And room for water and feed. It is usually lighted all hours of the day. This forces them to lay eggs again and hence stop being broody. Plus it sounds like pure torture!! But it works.

Where you can get fertile eggs really depends on your location. I can find them in the trader and farmers bulleteins. You could probably find adds online and even post that your looking for some.

I just got rid of the eggs yesterday and noticed she has somehow stolen an egg my hen had laid! But she's still making that noise and running away from me... I miss holding my duck and loving on her. What happened?
