We currently have two ducks (both 18 months) brooding on separate nests and we're wondering at what point we should move them and their nests to secured pens with overhead protection from eagles, etc.). Previously, we had a duck brooding on her nest and moved her into a pen as soon as we found her and she refused to get back on the nest.
