Well, here she is a few months later, at 5.5 months old, brooding a clutch of three Icelandic eggs due to hatch on Thursday.

Also joining in on the broody fever is my mini Oregon goose, Bonnie, sitting a clutch of four goose eggs due in approximately two weeks.

Nice!

Broodies are wonderful, aren't they? One of ours just hatched out six half Serama chicks a few days ago, and we have two more clutches due to hatch this week, one of them are pure d'Uccles.

I just wish they would share the secret of how they know what they are supposed to do. I'll never forget wheeling my newborn son back to the nursery to let the nurses know his diaper was wet! Imagine my shock when told to change it and I had never changed a diaper in my life. Disposable diapers weren't invented yet and they handed me a huge square piece of fabric and pins. Sharp pins! How do these birds juts know????????
