Broody geese sharing a nest?

I have 4 Embden geese- three ladies and one gentleman.

Every late winter/early spring, the girls lay a collaborated clutch, and take turns sitting on the nest. At times, two of the girls will share the nest at the same time. They also move the nest around repeatedly- oftentimes leaving eggs out of the nest and causing them to die.

Does anyone else deal with this? Just curious. :)

Every time that I have had birds (regardless of breed) share a nest it resulted in reduced % hatches or complete failure of the clutch. Even when all participants appear amicable there seems to be constant stealing and switching of eggs. The end result is chilled, cracked, broken eggs and a fouled nest resulting in bacterial contamination. I no longer allow multiple females to brood in a common nest.
