Broody Geese

My geese (who have previously raised young) have destroyed ALL their eggs this year whilst broody! Nothing left of any, even though fertile - no bodies, hardly any shall, etc. Any ideas why? They still seem to think they have eggs too, even though pen has now been cleaned out.

This is highly unusual behavior for seasoned breeders. Are you positive that no predator is accessing the nest ? Have any new geese/ganders been added to the flock?

Only new geese in the flock are last year’s brood. Once mature two females started brooding, they made it clear that the younger ones were not welcome so they slept in different pen. They are always locked away at night so don’t think any predators could get in.
