I have 8 duck eggs under my broody goose. Today was day 7 so I candled them to see what was going on. 1 was not developed at all ( I started with 9) the others all have veins. My concern is that rather then the veins and everything being in the middle they are off on the side in most of the eggs. What caused this? I think maybe the goose is not turning them herself and its causing them to settle to one side? Are they going to hatch ok?

I notice a difference in the developement of the veins when I switched from an automatic turner to hand turning my duck eggs.

If you had plenty of time You could just sit and watch her for a while...well a long time may be needed- grab a book and sit somewhere you can see her- without being too close to disturb her- and wait to see if she is turning the eggs. Alternatively- you could mark the eggs- and check on them to see if they have been turned the next day.

Is it her first time sitting???

Oh- just noticed that they were different possitions. They seemed to be more centralised in the middle of the egg when I hand turned. When I had them in the Auto turner they all started in the same place higher in the egg and didnt seem to move as much as the turner did. IE: embryo was always on left hand side of egg regardless of the angle it was in the turner.
When hand turning the embryos turned more when I turned the eggs but were always situated lower in the egg.
