I started out with 5 baby chicks that the mother hen rejected. 5 were doing well. When they got big enough and fully feathered, I left the top of the cage open so they can go on their own to explore. 2 are gone. 1 from exposure and the other got sick. The 3 left are in good shape. They come around feeding time and if the others bother them they will come to me and fly up on my shoulder. They have a spot to roost under the roof so they won't get wet.

Are they feral chickens, or you raised them? They look silkie mixes? Sorry you lost 2.
Yes. They are part Silkie. A black Silkie looking rooster came over and joined the group. Very cautious and it took about a week to actually come near. Finally able to have him feed from my hand though I am not able to touch or pet him. There are more chicks with his features in different colors too. Feathers on their legs and a short tail. Some have the all black eyes of the rooster.
