Here it is. She is always wanting to be a mother, but I finally let her. I moved her to this setup 15 mins ago but she hasn't sat on them yet. Will she brood them? Any tips for a first time hatcher?

Setting in the nest day and night, not getting off for more than a couple minutes at a time for at least the last 3 days?

1. Chicken wire is not predator proof.
2. Does the sun ever hit that nest spot? It should be shaded during all parts of the day.
3. I would give her a secluded nest box, and give her a nice deep layer of hay for her bedding. Putting the eggs on shavings on the ground: a sudden rain storm could soak her nest, the shavings are likely to be dispersed when she kicks them around.
4. How many pullets do you want to add to your flock? Assume that you have an 80% hatch rate. Of the chicks that do hatch, assume that 60% of them will be cockerels. So... set 10 eggs, hope for 8 to hatch. Of those 8, you will get 2 - 3 pullets. Of course you might get a better hatch rate, and you may have a higher number of pullets.
5. What will you do with the cockerels?

I'm not sure what to do with the cockerels. I don't have any fake eggs I will do something about the next and move it to a corner. She started being broody last night.
