Broody hen and egg hatching question

I'm not sure what's going on with my pullet. Yesterday morning she refused to get off her nest, was puffed up all over, and screamed at me when I came near. She stayed in her box all day and all night and I was sure she was broody. However, this afternoon she got off and started walking around with the other hens like normal and hasn't been back since. If she wasn't broody, why was she acting like that?

Also, she is a buff orpington and my friend offered to give me some fertilized silkie eggs. If she ever did go broody and I placed the eggs under her, would she hatch them? Thanks guys!

Could be she's not fully broody. It also could be the time of year. A broody hen should hatch anything. Some are better at it than others.
