Broody hen and hatching question

This is the the egg she had bumped out from under her. Having a hard time getting humidity up in bator. He still has beak out and not really chirping . There are some vessels so I have him wrapped in warm damp cloth and just keeping a close eye on him for now. Soooo nerve wracking

This is the guy the kids saved that mama kicked out.

Awwww. Poor little guys. The hatched one is soooooo cute.

Really glad your kids found him in time. Get him all warm and toasty and give him some baby vitamins without iron, or sav-a-chick, or even just a bit of sugar (the browner the better) in water. It'll give him some more energy to counteract the stress of being chilled. The second one looks to me like you're doing everything you can do for him at this point. Hopefully he'll pull through and be cute and fluffy soon too.

I wonder why she is kicking them out. Does she have more eggs under her still? If so, I'd keep a close eye on her in case she kicks them out too. If she keeps on doing it, I'd recommend not letting her sit eggs again. Although... Ducks are pretty adventurous as soon as they get their feet under them. Is it possible that it fell out and couldn't get back? Though that still wouldn't explain the hatching egg getting shoved out.

Almost there!
Still breathing so far. Nerve wracking!
She does have more eggs under her, she was stealing from
The other girls and we didn't catch it in time because we were just letting her do her own thing.

Yay! Looks like it is doing good so far!

So the eggs she has left could have a pretty wide range of hatch dates, then. It is possible she wasn't stealing, but that they were "donating". I've found that my hens just LOVE to lay eggs in the broody's nest. It's like "Oh! You're hatching eggs?!? Here, I have one for you!" Silly birds.

He is pretty much kicked out on his own, looks like he may have an outward belly button or I am just seeing things. Will try and get a pic . Sigh so much for getting anything done today. Lol

Yeah, hatches will do that to ya. Even when they don't go awry.

He is out and moving around!
Here is a pic of the belly button thingy ?
Looks like his naval didn't quite finish up yet. Just leave it be and it should finish up all on its own. I'd keep him in the 'bator where it is nice and sterile until it is all healed though. You don't want it to get dirty.
