So Miss Priss went broody back at the beginning of the month when I was of course on vacation so not sure exactly when. When I returned I marked all the eggs . I have 3 boxes and she is in the one least used. Every night I come home to collect eggs, and well, one with an X is in the next box.... Some days I appear to be missing a fresh egg or 2. Last week I went and remarked all the eggs under her. there were still 4 or 5 of the originals. My daughter is complaining the eggs have partially developed chicks in some eggs that are not marked. I don't know how that can be as she is eating eggs that are 3+ weeks old, before Miss Priss went broody. I candled the ones she kicked out of the box yesterday and it looked like they might be almost done. I don't have an incubator so not sure what to do next. My eating eggs may be partially developed and she keeps kicking good incubated eggs out. HELP..
On a side note my coup is 4X8 and the roosting bars go the length so I cant put much under them due to the poop factor. The nesting boxes are at the far end, the door opposite. I could put a 5 gallon bucket on the ground under the coop and try moving miss priss there away from the other boxes, but afraid she wont like the relocation. My only hope of getting to her eggs is on the weekend if I catch her when she is out of the nest. Otherwise she is viscous. I might be able to open the cleaning door and move the ladder to the side but that means entry/exist will be right next to the nest boxes.
