Hi guys,

After two weeks of my Buff Orpington setting on her six peahen eggs, she desisted to get off of her eggs for a half of day,

but thankfully another one of my hens jump on the eggs a kept them warm for all of the hours my Buff was off except one

. So do you guys think that these eggs still have a chance of being alive? Like I said in another post, this is my first time trying to hatch peafowl eggs, so I have no experience what so ever. The main reason why I ask is, I have four good peahen eggs not being set on right now. So if you guys think these eggs are no good then I will just put these other four under the hen and start all over

Thanks for any help

Personally I would leave the four you have under her there. One hour should not hurt them, but are you sure she will continue to sit on them either way?

I've had very cold chicken, duck and guinea eggs that I put under a different hen and had them hatch, so I would *not* toss them.

I am glad that these Peafowl eggs still have a chance. I am pretty sure she will set on them if she quits getting taken advantage of. To me it seems like she wants to continue to set but something or someone is preventing her. I mean I went out this morning and she was setting on the roosting pole right next to the Peafowl eggs but she just did not want to set on them, or she was about to set on them. After a few minutes a hen jump on the eggs. I really think that her nest is getting stolen by other hens when she going to eat a drink, and she just has to set by her nest until the hen get off.

I don't know, I hope she gets committed about setting on these eggs as she was last week. I guess I will wait till another hen starts setting before I put these other four Peafowl eggs under something.

Can you section her nest box off so that the other hens can not get into it. If you can give her an area with enough room outside the nest to have food, water and a place to poop, she might be more dedicated. If you don't have the extra space to do that, you could section off the nest and then let her outside for a while each day to take care of business.
