Broody hen laying eggs

A few weeks ago my silkie hen went broody on one egg. She has been on it for about 21 days now. When I candled it a few days ago, it appears to have a chick. I couldn't tell if it was alive. Two days ago my broody hen started laying eggs again and she just keeps adding them to the one she's been on. Is this normal?

It looks like its going to hatch in the next few days, as I think I can see it starting to internally pip. Are you sure that the new eggs are from her, and that no other hens are using her nest to lay their eggs?

Hi. Thank you for the response. Thats good news. My calculations must've been a day or so off. This is my first season with chickens and currently only have one other hen that is laying and she likes to lay in the run.

I'd be concerned that another hen is adding eggs to the nest.

I will try to watch tomorrow. I removed the two extra eggs. I don't want my broody hen to stay on the nest longer than necessary.
