My Silver Phoenix hen has been broody all summer. Every day I pick her up out of the nesting box and gather the eggs she is trying to hatch. Today when I pick her up I see she has bedding on her back (not normal). I brush it off and realize her tummy is wet with bedding matted to her feathers and the bottom of the box is also wet with a clearish liquid. I don't think it came from a broken egg, there is not a fragment of shell to be found or any yellow yolk. Any ideas as to what is wrong and what should be done? No visible worms anywhere and no poo in the box. The whole flock was wormed a month ago. Thank you

I have noticed that a broody's "belly," where they pluck themselves bare to have skin against their eggs, often feels a bit moist. Since she's been broody all summer, perhaps this is a buildup. At any rate, I would try hard to break her. That is a long enough broody stretch to pose a real danger to her health.

Thank you :) And thank you for the link, also. I am about to go check on her again and see what I can do.
