Broody hen, no rooster!

Is there a leg band or some other way to be able to tell them apart?

I just had to band a potential broody, 1 of 3 of the same breed.
Took her a few days to settle in to the broody nest with fake eggs,
am giving her fertile eggs tonight.

You'll want to mark those fertile eggs so you can remove any freshly laid ones daily.
Get her used to you touching her and reaching under her.

Thanks aart! I had thought about zipties a couple times but I just wasn't sure. I don't have any colored ones or any small ones so I'll have to pick some up. She stayed outside all day today. I checked for eggs every hour or two and collected them as soon as I saw them so she wouldn't have anything to sit on. I only got two eggs today so I assume she didn't lay one.

She may not be broody after all, or just working up to it.

Well I think she is still broody or semi-broody because she has been sitting on the eggs on and off. I've just been collecting the eggs from under her every day. She protests at first but then goes back to her normal routine.

I put some colored zip tie leg bands on them today. I put them on loose enough that I could still move them up and down, but tight enough that they won't slide down on their own. I used nail clippers to cut them flush with the lock. They picked at them for about a minute then they seemed to ignore them. I'll keep an eye on them to make sure they aren't too tight. They are now pink, green and blue.
