Broody Hen Question

We successfully placed two chicks under our broody hen and she was doing a great job raising them. When they were 6 weeks old, one of the chicks was killed in an accident with a dog that got into the pen. The mom of the remaining chick was doing a great job raising the one that was left but just got broody again leaving her now 9 week old with the 3 other adult hens in our flock. The 9 week old is very skiddish because it doesn't have a mom watching over it anymore. I am tempted to get another chick but not sure if this is good timing. The only other option is to put the mom in the broody breaker for a day or two. Thoughts?

At 9 weeks old it is perfectly capable of fending for itself and its mom knows that. Just leave it alone for a few days and will most likely start to get used to being part of the actual flock and not just with its mom.
