broody hen questions

I just took 15 eggs from under her and placed 6 for her to hatch. She was very calm, and did not scream or anything. I spoke to her the whole tome though. It was mostly to comfort myself. LOL my rooster didn't like me in there with her. But I told him he would be dead if he bothered me. He stayed put too.
That's hilarious. My bantam rooster thinks he's all tough and all. He reminds me of danny devito compared to my hens because he's so small. He is nothing but a show off. I fall to the ground laughing when the girls get mad at him because they run him off

Hi all!! i'm new to this I have a broody hen but no rooster. She has been laying for a couple of weeks off and on and we kept just taking her eggs away. Well we felt so bad for her that we ordered her some fertilized eggs (7) and she's so happy sitting on her eggs. We separated her from the rest of the flock so she won't be bothered.
My question is she is in one of our nesting boxes (that she picked) in the hen house but she's about 4feet off the ground. There is a lip across the front of the nexting box then about 6-8 inches before the drop off. Should I move her nesting box to the ground the next time she gets up or once the babies are born will she know to keep those babies safe?
My next issue i'm having is ants, we're in phoenix, AZ and it's quite hot here and the ants are everywhere. now we think we may have it under control with the DE and the feed store said we could also use garden and poultry dust. does anyone have any other suggestions for me. I'm so excited for my hen she is so protective of those eggs it's just so cute to watch her. I would hate to have something go wrong (although I know it happens) but i've been doing a lot of research to do my best for her. Thank you so much for your input!!
