Just went to shut the chickens in and found 1 missing. DH went to look for her and found her in the barn. We went to move her, thinking she just stayed out too long, picked her up and boy did she get excited!! Squacking and carrying on!!! And what do you suppose she was sooo excited about?! About 15 eggs were underneath her!!!

We put her back but she left and started back to the henhouse. She is in there now. My question is, should we gather the eggs and put her in a separate house that is empty right now? We have been wanting a broody and are pretty egg-sited!! Did we scare her out of her broodiness? We don't know how long the eggs have been out there. She has been in the henhouse every eve. But someone has been laying alot of eggs!!! We were wondering why we weren't getting as many eggs!! Have had chickens for almost 3 yrs now and this is the first broody we have had.
We have no idea how long the eggs have been out there.

I''m one of those who always move the broodies. BUT, I have the hens in a coop, and it's necessary to change if one is broody. But if yours is quiet and nobody or nothing disturb her in that barn, I would let her there. Be aware if another is laying eggs in her nest.....That would be a problem.

We went ahead and moved her. There are cats around and noticed a skunk smell last nite. Better safe than sorry! We put her in the empty henhouse. Will she be ok in there by herself? I would assume broodies like to be alone. We put her food and water in with her. She has never been in that henhouse before. I hope it doesn't freak her out to much. It is a lot smaller than the other one. We will wait and see!
