is it to cold for a hen to hatch? its already been in the teens(degrees F) in Alabama. so do you think it will be fine? she is a really good broody i just dont want the chicks to freeze

I've had one sitting on eggs since Dec 4th. She's had no problems with the cold. I also asked the question about putting a heat lamp after there hatched and was advised against it since they say the broody keeps the chicks nice and toasty!!

if you feel that she is cold take a portable heater and set it at the lowest temp setting all you need to do is keep the air around her above freezing I have one with a thermostat that goes down to 60 I use that in the coop and you only really have to worry is if the wind is blowing on her chickens already come with a feather jacket
