Broody Hen Troubles

Okay,

So I have a broody hen in a dog kennel (the playmate ones) which is in a bigger kennle. The heavy duty black ones. The last time I checked the eggs was a couple of days ago but today I did and they have poop/and or dried mud on them?!? I was thinking if I should wash them off or just let them be? Will they be okay?

Definitely let them be. The hen may have pooped in the nest-- is there a place for her to get off the nest a move about?

If you wash them you will remove teh protective bloom and it will let bacteria in the pores of the shell. Its gross, but better to leave them.

Yea, she has enough room to move around, its just that the food is placed infront of the door to the nest box so shes half in the nest box half out, and she poops in there, ill just have to move the dish now that I think about it.
