i have a Cochin that I believe has went broody. My question is how many eggs do they lay she is sitting on two eggs that could possibly be hers. I know once they truly go broody they stop laying but both of these eggs sure do look like her eggs and there was a day in between when they where laid. So just looking for some insight from some more experienced chicken mamas !!!

A clutch is about 12 eggs or less depending on hen and egg size. I've had hens brood and hatch 15-16 eggs. My tiny serama laid 6 eggs and went broody. A bantam can brood 12 bantam eggs or 6 eggs from a large breed. Is your cochin a bantam or the larger cochin? Either way she could brood more than two; you can give her more if she has just started.

Keep others from laying eggs in her nest - otherwise it will be a staggered hatch date. A broody hen often leaves the nest after the first ones hatch - leaving unhatched eggs behind, which can go into an incubator.

Every broody is different. First time broodies may sit on empty air, rocks, a kid's toy. They are convinced they are going to hatch something whether it is possible or not. Two eggs may be all she wants to work on this time.

Thanks that helps. I think she is a bantam. But I am not 100% she is very small. I will try and post a picture of her.
