broody hen

    can someone give me info on what to do with a hen that won't get off the nest. i take away the egg each day and carry her out for food, but she just goes right back on the nest???

    You are right. She is broody. To break her from being broody, you need to isolate her (put her in chicken prison) for a few days, four will usually do it but it depends on how determined she is. She needs access to food and water and it is best if she is in a raised cage with a wire floor so she will be a little cool underneath. Do not give her anything that looks like a nest.
