What do you do with 2 broody hens sitting on the same nesting box? Shall i separate them and give them each an small coop?
They have only started sitting yesterday.
Any advice will be very welcome.
I have a rooster by the way.

Its ok to have two broodies on a nest. Wait tell both a super broody before moving them. You can also use a sharpie and make an X on the egg so you now what eggs have baby's in them.

Break one or both of them.
There a lot to consider before allowing a broody to hatch eggs.....
...and lots of different ways to manage broodies.

Are these 2 birds different from this one:

I'd say break 1 broody hen and allow 1 broody to hatch the eggs or give them a nest of eggs each to hatch separately -You said you can separate them and give each their own coop to hatch? Brilliant!
Happy hatching!! :jumpy
...although sometimes if you move a broody they won't sit on the new nest so test them first on fake eggs if you like then place some real eggs under when you know they are sitting for a few days on their new nest.

I haven't had a problem with any of my broody hens taking to a new nest of eggs when I moved them to a separate coop.. But, I did have to put my first time broody pullet back on her new nest after she got off for food/drink but then she got the idea where it was. Best to move them at night so they wake up in their new spot on the eggs maybe. My hens I moved during the day but they knew what to do, straight on the new nest no problem. Depends on the hen maybe if they break easy from broodiness. And maybe if they are inexperienced hatching eggs too? What breed are your broody hens?-and have they hatched eggs before?
Its really sooo cute watching mumma hens with their little chicks in tow! Hope it all works out for you!

One of them is a rhode island red and the other i am not sure, she is only small. They are both only 11 months old and this will be their first time.
I tried to move them today out of their nest but they only ate and then went back in.
I will give them a few days until i can find a coop for each and then separate them.
They seem ok together for now.
Thank you for your replay 😊

Since you'll leave the broodies there for a few more days, do you have other layers?- if so best to mark those eggs they started sitting on like EggSnatcher suggested so you know which ones are going to hatch in 21 days and take the other newly laid eggs away.
Do you have a pic of the 2 on the same nest? I'd love to see it! I haven't had 2 broody on 1 nest before.
