I have a Austrolorp hen that has gone broody so I am going to try to put some different eggs under her (fertile eggs) does anyone have any suggestions on doing this because she is VERY ill tempered right now and I dont want to mess up her cycle by doing something wrong.any advice would be great...THANKS!

Make sure she's where you want her first--Is she in a safe spot where others hens won't bother her or lay more eggs in her nest? Once she's settled in where you want her to brood give her the fertile eggs at night. You should just be able to place them in front of her close to her chest and she'll coo to them and push them under her body. If it makes you more comfortable you can wear some gloves, but even my evil bo (everybody says how nice they are

) won't peck at me if I bring eggs to her at night. Have fun! Broody mammas are a blast.
