I think I have a broody Hen . I have 2 bantam and one tetra tint in this particular tractor . I checked the girls around 1:00 , no eggs . I cked them again at 5:00 and one of my bantams was in the nest box , that was a little unusual . i went out to dinner and when i came back around 9:00 she was still in her nest box ,so i moved her to the side and there were 4 eggs in the nest and they were very warm . i have never gotten 4 eggs from those 3 . I don't have any rooster , can a hen still go broody if there are no roosters around ?? Are the eggs still safe to eat when they are that warm ? I sell my eggs to my coworkers , I wash and refrigerate them and sell them the next day . I am new to chicken keeping and I have never had a broody hen or is there something wrong with her ?? She should be roosting this late at night . Thanks for any help !

Yes a hen can go broody without a roosters. I guess they would be safe to eat as long as the hen hasn't sat on them for over a day.
