Broody Hen?

One of my hens that I hatched last year has been laying on eggs all day, she even put a few under her that I put beside her and every time I went near her she screamed at me to back away but when I put some food beside her she started to eat it still laying on the eggs but a few minutes later she left the coop and went outside? Why did she lay on the eggs all day and then leave?

if she comes back to the eggs after 30 minutes outside then she is broody


if she didn't come back then she might have been laying an egg
