broody hen??

I bought 6 eggs on ebay that were supposedly fertile. My 2 broody hens have been sitting on them for 28 days now but they did take 1 day off as i was away and my hubby didnt check them. Do you think they will still hatch??? They are silkie eggs.

If they've been sitting on them for 28 days and none have hatched, then the eggs are probably no longer alive. Chicken eggs are supposed to hatch in 21 days.

If its been 28 days, unfortunately, I don't think that they are going to hatch. Chicken eggs should hatch in 21 days- under not quite ideal conditions, the eggs can take a few days longer, but they would almost certainly not be alive after this time.

Maybe you can put new eggs under the hens and try for another hatch?
