Has anyone ever had a hen accept chicks when she is NOT brody. I have a single egg hatching any minute and I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a hen "adopt" a chick when she was not nesting????
I don't think it's terribly likely to happen. I've seen them rip a sparrow chick apart when it fell into their yard. They're probably going to see a stray chick as food.
