This is Cream Puff. I think this girl could hatch out a clutch of rocks if she had a mind to do it. She's currently sitting on her second clutch for the year (she spent her entire spring and summer hatching eggs and raising chicks last year- I ended up with 48 chicks

Here is an update on what I'm calling "The Broody House" It seems like every time I check there is someone else setting on the eggs. It started out with the turkey hen and one of the bantums taking turns setting on 8 D'uccle eggs. Then the Turkey started laying again, so I let her have those. So now the nest box has 6 turkey and 8 bantums.

The other bantum hens must of felt left out so they would steal one of the nests. The others would just set to keep the others company. I tried to seperate the clutches to give everyone some, but as soon as someone moved the others would gather the eggs under them.

The turkey is so much bigger and more determend that she just sets on the bantums.

In this pic the turkey is setting on 3 D'uccle hens setting on 6 turkey and 4 bantum eggs!

Next week the bantum eggs should start hatching, then a week later the turkey eggs. It should be intresting to see who claims what chicks.

I'm hoping someone will stay on the eggs. The turkeys are going to be staggerd. She layed them over a weeks time.

Ok I just spit my coke all over the computer when I saw the turkey "hatching" the bantums. I think that is the funniest thing I have seen in a while.

I'm glad you all enjoyed the pics. I eventually gave up trying to give them each some eggs and just let them sit on each other.
The bantams hatched last week but sadly all the chicks died. I think the tom and little roo may have gotten them. They are pull out of the pen now so maybe the turkey chicks have a chance.
The mommas that claimed the lost chicks went right back to the nest to help with the remaining eggs, but I pulled them out too.
