Broody hens and water dunking?

I've heard of breaking a broody hen by dunking them in cool water up to the neck, does this method work?

Are you heading into cold weather? You don't want a wet bird in cooler weather.

It's nice here right now, but I didn't know if this worked for broody hens or not. Do you know if it works?

Haven't done it myself, never needed to. We just separate them from the nest box for about 3 days and that has always worked.
