Hey guys so My little bantam RIR went broody so i built her a little tractor for her chicks:fl:fl (fingers crossed).

After i finished this little project my Buff Cochin went broody too, so i decided i would make a dual purpose tractor. This would be a temporary home for my 2 hens and chicks that i can slightly mod to make a quail home after.
This is my progress so far i bought all off cuts from bunnings for $1each (Aussie)
And a few fencing panels and a shop down the road lets me take as many pallets as i can fit in my truck.
I started with a basic frame.

I than measured and chopped up my pallets. i collected a couple of pallets with the plywood top and used this for the base of the coop and screwed all the pallet wood to the frame. trying to use as much recycled goods as i can manage.

it started to get a bit heavy so i got the muscles(my wife) to help me move it to the grass.
I than gave the pallet pieces a light sand.

I than used a water based merbau stain for the pallets and coated the inside with a basic white paint. I think the stain made the pallets look amazing. My Aussie Sheppard wanting me to take a break to play.

I added a removable internal wall between the boxes for privacy and added a small doorway for both chickens to the combined grass space. I made simple frame and screwed a scrap piece of tin roof sheet that i got cheap at the salvage yard. Than added chicken wire to the sides and made a removable lid for the top. I still need to find something to secure the lid with maybe ill grab some hinges or latches and i need to stain both lids. I ran out of time i got the chickens inside 2 days ago and the chicks are due today. i heard chirping this morning

I moved my current chicks into the smaller tractor and everyone was interested in them today.

I will post updated photo of mother and chicks when they come out of the boxes. I am trying my best to not peak but i'm pretty excited.

I spotted a pic of this brooder in the random pics bar and it lead me to this thread. Wow! I really like that little broody tractor!

@Bamboost, would you please make a coop page of your build for our coop page index? If you need help, there is a Coop pages and member pages tutorial here. TIA!
