broody hens

    How do i stop my hens going broody I have 7 silkie hens with 2 cockerels 6 of the hens have gone broody anyone tell me how to stop them as i dont want chicks now

    Pluck the broody wanna be's off that nest as soon as you see them on it.
    I've also heard that putting them in a bare wire cage will stop the broodiness.
    It's a hormonal thing, so be prepared for the little darlings to become Rottweilers with feathers.

    Yep, I'd collect those eggs and keep throwing her off the nest till she/they get the idea. If you're not in a pinch to get them laying again, just collecting the eggs everyday will keep them from making babies.
