broody hens

do a hen continue to lay eggs even when sitting on her eggs which she is trying to hatch her own eggs?

she will lay eggs until she has her clutch to a size she wants... then get serious about being broody... then stop laying... if you are getting more eggs, someone is joining her to lay their eggs... makes for a staggered hatch... not desirable. either separate her or mark her eggs and remove any unmarked eggs every day. she won't be laying again until she has hatched and weaned her babies.
