broody hens?

My white maran hen is acting broody she's screaming at me as well as puffing up when I get eggs I put a store bought egg under her to see how long she will stay on the nest before I let her set on some hatching eggs when should I put some hatching eggs under her I've been told by a lot of maran breeders that marans hardly go broody I just don't want to risk loosing a good batch of eggs

Once she stays on the nest overnight, she is truly broody. Understand that there is never a guarantee that a hen will set the requisite 21 days so it is always good to hae a back up plan. Chances are that she will set for the duration.
