Broody in the winter! UPDATES!

Hi! I said I would post back with the progress of my broody. Well, momma hen and chicks are doing great. All three of the eggs hatched on day 20, despite some very cold weather.

Hope that all of your girls are doing well. Look forward to seeing pictures!

Aww, super cute! The chick looks so tiny compared to mama! OH! I juste noticed the little yellow one below the black one!

I don't know if I told y'all, but I the broodies must have broken an egg yesterday and there was blood. When I found the egg, it was gross! There was a dead chick inside and a leg was sticking out with lots of blood. So I wondered what would happen next. I hoped it was an accident....

Well, HAPPY NEWS! Today, two cute little fluffy chicks peeked out from between the two broodies! I was thrilled. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! I'll try and post pics,

Glad I found this thread. I too have a broody. She is a young Showgirl, but this is her 2nd broody session in 3 months! She was unsuccessful last time. Once I realized she was serious again I gave her 6 eggs to sit (all showgirls), she took them and continued to sit tight so after 3 days I moved her to our heated shop. I candled them tonight and 4 appear to be veined and a chick forming, 2 most likely clear but it's kinda early to tell.

Anyway, my questions...what will you do with the hen and her chicks? Will you put them back outside with it so cold? How long will you keep them inside? My girl barely moves from the nest to poo, she is almost sitting in it some days

is that normal?

Thanks!
