My Appenzeller Spitzhauben, Kevin, is the first of my girls to go broody. She is very dedicated to her eggs, not even letting me check them to count or candle. She did let the snake eat five the second day but I put five more under her and patched holes and she was fine.
Last night, we had some pretty heavy rain and wind and when I checked this morning, she was sitting on her eggs in water. I moved her and the eggs to a dry box and she is back on them soldiering on. What are the chances that the water has damaged the eggs and chicks?
I'll add that there are 10 eggs now, 1 of the others has been laying in her box but until today, I couldn't count them. I had to use gloves to pick her up today and held her so she could watch my daughter move the eggs.
So anyway, I have eggs at different stages of development so I don't expect all to hatch but I do hope for some.
