Hi! Long time reader but new member and first time poster because of this issue!!

My Wyandotte (bottom of the pecking order) had been broody for two months so we decided to get her some fertile eggs. We gave them to her on June 7th and she has been a dutiful broody ever since. This morning when I went to let the girls out I noticed she was off her eggs but a little agitate ( puffed up and running around quickly), Not totally unlike how she acts when she comes off her eggs, but usually she isn't off the eggs until I open the door. She often comes out when I first open the door and does her business quickly before returning to her work. I opened the boxes to check on things and my big boss chicken ( speckled Sussex) was sitting on her eggs. When I went to lift her she Flaired up like my broody has been doing. My husband has noticed the last two evenings she has been sharing the box with my Wyandotte which is unlike her as she is always on the highest roost. I'm nervous that she has booted my Wyandotte off her eggs!
Should I take her off and put the Wyandotte back? I'm worried the Sussex doesn't have the staying power to see this through and I'm also worried if the Wyandotte is off too long she will be over it? Any tips?

Ugh! This is so stressful. The Wyandotte is sitting in the other box now on some unfertilized eggs. Should I split the eggs between the two girls?? Help please!! I'm guessing there is some action happening in the eggs now which is what motivated the Sussex. my poor Wyandotte has done such good work and I want her to have the satisfaction of hatching a few
