New England.. the cold part.
My broody hen, when I went to check on her this evening, had rejected 3 eggs of the 14, 2 shipped eggs and one of her own. Does this mean that she killed them, or does it mean that the rest are alive? they were cold. so I placed them on the ground behind DH's shed. I can't open them, (gag) and expect that they'll 'disappear' the way things do... Just wondering if this is Bad parenting on her part or good...

I'm also from Vermont and I'd say Namble is right. Did you try candling just to be sure? Sorry, I've been busy with chicks, chickens, ducks, and a goose myself (That may soon be supper) to catch your arrival.

Well usually when a hen kicks eggs out she knows something might be wrong with them. You can always candle them and put them in the incubator but you will take the chance there might be something wrong with the little babies.
