BROODY MOM GIVEN CHICKS

Chirping

Thank you so much I am starting to feel so much better. I was wondering if I still needed to worry about her being broody if she was going to kill them would she have already done that by now?

You are going to LOVE watching her raise her chicks the way nature intended.🙂
I am literally so excited. I can't wait to watch her since this was my very first time I only got three checks just because I had no idea what I was doing other than reading from backyard and watching YouTube videos. I really didn't know what to expect also, I actually have a separate run for her to be able to bring them out without the other girls messing with her, how old should the chicks be before I let her run with the rest of the girls? Because they free range during the day, but everybody goes back into the coop and gets locked up at night time will the babies follow her and do the same thing?

You will get all kinds of different answers about when to put them with the flock. I personally let them in as soon as mom starts moving around with them. Mom needs to reastablish herself with the flock, so espect a couple of scuffles. Most grown birds will ignore chicks, but watch to make sure your flock doesn't have any issues with them.

Thank you!! I'm super paranoid, so I'll definitely be spending my days outside watching her for the first few just to make sure..... now when I do let them out well, they follow her back in the coop at night to get locked up?

The chicks will follow their mom wherever she leads. When you let the new family into their separate run, observe how your other hens react. If your broody is high in the flock pecking order, she will easily be able to defend against other hens that might view the chicks as intruders. After a few days of getting used to the chicks' presence, the other hens should completely ignore the chicks.

I know for sure they were one day old .
The feed store had the same exact kind of chicken. They were only one day old
The chicks at the feed store are always more than one day old.

They are usually 3-4 days old, but never less than 2 days, because of how long it takes for them to get to the store. (That might be different if you live in the town where the hatchery is located, so they could get the chicks directly from the hatchery without any shipping time. But that would only happen for a handful of stores in the entire country.)
