Broody Muscovy Hatching Question

I have a Muscovy who has been sitting on eggs for what seems like forever. Today I turned around and there was an egg in the pen near her that hadn't been there seconds before. It was partially open and there was a duckling beak and head showing.The beak was moving. I picked it up and put it back near her and she immediately tossed it away again. Does anyone know what is going on?

Could someone remove the duplicate? Thanks!
 
OK - never mind. The egg is gone and the chick is dead on the ground. I hope the rest of the hatches go better.
