Broody Muscovy

There's only one egg. It's her first attempt at this. When we noticed that she was getting broody, we still didn't know if we wanted her to set on a nest. She ended up deciding that one egg was enough for her :)

I can't see anything moving, but I'm trying to be quick (and get it back to her) and I'm using a less than ideal flashlight.

She laid it on Oct. 11.
Okay take the egg she'll stay. go in where it's dark so you can really get a loo at this egg. You should not be able to see much except air sac and dark meaning duckling is taking up all available space. Only way your going to know other than just leaving the egg with her, but if it was laid on the 11 that duckling is over due.

So here's what the egg looks like today 11/21:

I hate to say it but i wonder if it died in the shell? only way to know is to open it up but why not leave it a bit longer, listen to it everyday for peeping don't think I'd put it in water anymore from what I've read these eggs are porous and putting in water allows bacteria to enter. Have you talked to Lacrystol or casportpony both are good at hatching and maybe able to tell you how to go from here. I just feel something is wrong.

when you put it in water does it move at all?

Well, we gave up on it today. We might let her try again in spring. Thanks for all of the advice and encouragement.
