Hi fellow chicken peeps, my silkie has been broody for the 1st time for about 5 days. Today we managed to get some hatching eggs and placed them under her. So far, she has accepted them. My question is 1. As we placed them 5 days late under her, will she get off 5 days earlier or will she sit until they have hatched. 2 If she leaves the eggs, when are they considered non viabile 3. We have a incubator, should i keep it switched on "just in case".
Sorry for the questions, this is my first time and i really dont know what to expect and am worried as its getting rather cold now but her nest box is very cosy with a thermal floor and plenty of hay. Thanks

A good broody hen will set until she dies. But about the time she thinks her eggs at supposed to hatch (when these have 5 days left) I would keep the incubator in just in case. Other than that, there shouldn't be any problems
