Broody not eating?

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. I have a broody little cochin bantam who is so devoted that she is not getting off the nest to eat, drink, etc. I was wondering if I should take her off and set her next to the food etc? Or should I wait. I am trying to think of ways to keep tabs on whether she is actually getting out of the nest when I am not looking? ANy ideas? DO they starve themselves to death sometimes? OR should I just stop worrying? She is my favourite hen and I just want to be sure I have done all I should to keep her healthy.

That is normal. She will come off the nest maybe 1 time a day to eat and drink but sometimes they get off every other day while your not looking.

When one of my favorite girls went broody I left her alone, but as her comb began to shrivel and the temps soared I worried she wasn't taking good enough care of herself.
I brought her a favorite treat...bread....then I'd dip the bread in water so she was getting fluids too.....she probabaly would have been fine...???? but ya know how it is.

I bet she's dong her stuff when you're not looking. If you step on a large golf ball sized pile... she had to have been out.

I'll check again tonight for one of the golf balls! I saw my first one the other day! Was quite impressed! WIsh I could hold it that long!

I also made the feed real smooth and level so that any pecking in there will show. I'm just a nervous first timer I guess. She has the place to herself so there is no-one to bug her. Her little bud Frodo is rather forlorn since she has gone into maternal mode. I was hoping he would show more interest in the Polish now that she is not around but no luck. I thought it would be fun to see what a polish cochin cross looked like?! But I think he is too small and sweet to make those big airheads crouch down and take his romancing!

Ive been through this as well, worrying that they arent eating and drinking.
I have picked them up off the nest and plonked them down next to the water and food with great success.
May be worth a try, she should just hop back on when she has eaten etc!!
