Tonight I found my Plymouth Barred Rock hen sitting in one of the nest boxes on the day's eggs. I've seen this before with my orpington, but this is the first time with this breed. I reached in to take the eggs (not fertilized) and she kept bitting at my hand. All the other broody hens have puffed up and made some kind of sound. But this hen did none of that. She is a year old on August 7. So can I expect she is going broody or not? Anyone have experience with this breed who can tell me what this breed is like if she does go broody.

My Barred Rock went broody last year, was mad at the world until I put eggs under her in a separate pen. Made her a happy camper. No pecking etc...Good mommy too.
