6 of my 7 hens have all gone broody together!!

They are all squashed into one nest box piled up on each other - even though there are no eggs in there.

Its normally easy to get one of the hens out of being broody (I put her in a large dog crate for a few days). But this time its seems they just won't snap out of it.

I am trying to keep them in the cage, but every time I open the door to give food or water they make a break for it. Its like a comedy sketch of me trying to get them in the cage - for every one I get in, 2 get out and are back in the nest box!!!!

I can't understand why they have all gone broody at the same time. Usually only or 2 go broody.

It seems contagious doesn't it. I liken it to all the women in the same house being on the same cycle. I'm jealous btw. Can't wait until the broody train comes to my house this spring.

So sorry for laughing. I'm just imagining the scene!

After having mine fly over my head onto my back and run down my back to get away, I can see the race to the nest box. Any photos of the "chicken pile up"?????

Think maybe a new change in pecking order? Maybe the warmest nest? Let us know how this plays out.

I thought I had it bad with three broody monsters at once! It does nothing for my mood to be yelled at every time I get near the nest! I finally tossed them all out. We have 2 coops connected by a covered run...one hen was broody in one coop and the other two were in the other coop, so I put them in the opposite coops. they got over it in a hurry. You have my sympathies!
